SCV backups fail with VMDKs on excluded datastores despite excluding spanning datastores in the resource group options

Applies to

  • SnapCenter Plug-in for VMware vSphere (SCV) 4.6, 4.6P1
  • VMs with VMDK(s) on excluded datastore(s)
  • Manually select the spanning datastores with supported storage system only or Always exclude all spanning datastores is selected 

Issue

  • Backup fails at the resource discovery stage when any VM has a VMDK on an excluded datastore (non NetApp storage)
  • Error seen is:
