SCSQL backups fail with error "Unable to find the database files"

Issue
SCSQL backups for all SQL databases on a stand-alone or cluster host fail with the following errors:
SnapCenter UI:Activity 'Discovering Resources' failed with error: Unable to find the database files : (<Database_Files>).
