Applies to

  • SnapCenter Plug-in for VMware vSphere (SCV)
  • The resource group with multiple spanning datastores.
  • When comparing the sizes of identically named snapshot copies created by SCV simultaneously on two volumes, one snapshot copy is usually smaller while the other is larger.

Answer

Yes, it is possible for the snapshot of a volume that is usually smaller to exceed the size of one that is usually larger.

Note: If the amount of data updated in the active volume whose snapshot is usually smaller increases significantly, the snapshot size may exceed that of the volume whose snapshot is usually larger.
