In an environment where cascade SnapMirror is configured, SnapCenter backups are failing

Issue

  • In an environment where cascade SnapMirror is configured, SnapCenter backups are failing
  • The following errors are recorded in the ems logs:

ERROR app.log.err: svm1: SnapCenter Software 6.1.0.4852: (1002) Error: Job [1991] Activity [Registering Backup and Applying Retention] failed. Error: Retention : Error: Remove Snapshot 'RG_rg1_10-10-2025_10.10.10.1010' failed on volume 'vol1'. This Snapshot copy is currently used as a reference Snapshot copy by one or more SnapMirror relationships. Deleting the Snapshot copy can cause future SnapMirror operations to fail.

ERROR app.log.err: svm1: SnapCenter Software 6.1.0.4852: (1002) Error: Job [1991] Activity [Replicating to Secondary] failed. Error: Unable to find Snapshot (RG_rg1_10-11-2025_12.13.14.1567) on volume (vol1) from storage (cluster1-svm1). SetSnapshotLabel failed : 102, Failed to attach the label to the specified Snapshot copy.(RG_rg1_10-11-2025_12.13.14.1567) Invalid response returned by Set-NcSnapshot: 0
