Unable to add Storage System to OTV Due to Expired Client Certificate and Insufficient Privileges

  • ONTAP Tools for VMware vSphere (OTV) 9.x

Issue

  • When ONTAP client certificates expire within OTV, attempts to re-register the storage system in OTV via the vCenter plug-in fail.
  • Similar errors can be observed:
    • Storage system status shows Client Certificate Expired
    • Attempts to renew certificate or re-register result in HTTP 500 errors
    • Warning: Cluster is not trusted and handshake failures during certificate generation
