ONTAP Tools for VMware vSphere (OTV) 10.5P2 and later

Issue

  • In OTV 10.5P2, attempts to remove a storage backend or its associated vCenter entry can fail because the OTV database retains stale VASA Provider registration state, even after the provider has been manually removed from vCenter.
    • Observed error message:

Error occurred while removing storage backend: Unable to remove storage backend, Error occurred while removing storage backend: Failed to remove StorageBackend: https://<otv-service-url>/api/v1/storage/storage-backends. Error: The specified cluster is unreachable. 404 Not Found. The requested URL was not found on this server.

  • The ONTAP Tools Manager UI may also gray out the option to disable VASA Provider.
  • No backend volumes may be present, but vCenter entry cannot be removed.
