  • No, it is not necessary to enable the VASA provider if  not using VMware vVols.
  • The VASA Provider is specifically designed to support vVol datastores, enabling policy-based management and VM-level granularity.
  • If the environment uses traditional VMFS or NFS datastores and does not leverage vVols, enabling VASA Provider is optional and may be skipped.
