ONTAP vVol Datastore Inaccessible or “Unknown” in ONTAP Tools for VMware vSphere (OTV) Due to Unsupported Multi-OTV Registration

Issue

ONTAP vVol datastores become inaccessible and/or show a status of “unknown” in ONTAP Tools for VMware vSphere (OTV) and vCenter. Virtual machines (VMs) on affected vVol datastores may become unavailable or fail Storage vMotion.
Example log output:

  • vVol datastores become inaccessible or “unknown” in vCenter/OTV
  • VM Storage vMotion or migration fails with “A fatal internal error occurred. See the virtual machine’s log for more details.”
