Answer

OTV 10 has a few different accounts that are configured when you deploy the appliance via the OVA template.

  • maint user - Used for logging into the maintenance console from vCenter.
  • administrator user - Used for logging into ONTAP Tools Manager UI at https://<ONTAPtoolsIP>:8443/virtualization/ui/.
  • application user - Used for VASA/SRA registration from the OTV plugin under Settings > VASA Provider settings.

There is another account that is a pre-defined account but you can change the password each time you connect over SSH.

  • diag user - Used to connect to the OTV appliance via SSH after enabling the 1-time password via OTV maintenance console.

If you want to create a storage user account to add a storage backend to OTV and be able to manage storage from OTV, then you will need to create a RBAC OTV user.
