Unable to create a VVOL datastore on an SVM using ONTAP tools for VMware vSphere (OTV) from vCenter

Issue

  • vCenter and ONTAP are able to communicate.
  • The target cluster and SVM are displayed on the OTV storage system.
  • After creating the VVOL,mount to each ESXi host has succeeded.
  • But following error is displayed, and the contents of the target VVOL datastore are empty.

Object Type Storage Alarm
Due to the failure in creating VVOLs for this datastore in vSphere-HA, virtual machines cannot be protected in the datastore until the issue is resolved.
Error: The operation failed. Diagnostic Report: .vsphere-HA (cannot create file)

  • Interfaces belonging to the Management Network are unable to ping the NFS LIF.
