Applies to

  • NetApp ONTAP Tools for VMware vSphere (OTV) 9.x
  • NetApp VASA Provider (VP) 9.x
  • VMware vCenter 8.x
  • VMware ESXi 8.x

Issue

  • After renewing an expired client certificate used by OTV to connect to an ONTAP storage system/cluster, OTV no longer displays vVol information or capacity from the OTV vVol Dashboard.
  • General storage statistics are visible and the connection to the storage system appears normal, but the vVol capacity shows as 0B.
  • VMs residing on the vVol datastore are mostly accessible but some powered off VMs show inaccessible.
  • From the OTV's WebCLI/VASA Client, running cluster list command results in discovery failures against the cluster and data SVMs.
  • This results in VEAAM backup jobs failing and an inability to perform storage migrations via vMotion.
    • From OTV Web CLI:

ClusterAdmin 192.168.0.101 otvuser 220c1c1a0-25fc-11ec-be32-d039ea4a8459 failed: Cluster cluster1 failed discovery process.
StorageController svm1 192.168.0.101 otvuser 220290bf2-2635-11ec-be32-d039ea4a8459 ... failed: SVM svm1 failed discovery process.
[Other FlexVols] ... failed: SVM svm1 failed discovery process.

starttime: 06/24/26 15:31:45
command: clusterrediscover
output: 192.168.0.101 [Entire cluster] failed with Cluster discovery error: Error writing to server 0 succeeded and 1 failed rediscovery
endtime: 06/24/26 15:31:55

    • From VEAAM:
