Does NetApp VASA Provider support provisioning a Windows Failover Cluster on a vVol datastore?
Applies to
- ONTAP Tools for VMware vSphere (OTV)
- Windows Server Failover Cluster (WSFC)
- VMware vSphere Virtual Volumes (vVol)
Answer
Beginning with ONTAP 9.15.1, you can create a persistent reservation for a virtual volume using SCSI-3. This feature is only supported using ONTAP Tools for VMware vSphere 9.13P1 and higher with a Windows Server Failover Cluster (WSFC).
ONTAP currently supports VMware virtual volumes (vVols) as well as persistent reservations with traditional LUNs.
