Applies to

  • VMware Site Recovery Manager (SRM) 9.x
  • NetApp ONTAP Tools for VMware (OTV) 10.5P1
  • NetApp Storage Replication Adapter (SRA) for SRM

Issue

  • After a successful SRM failover from the protected site to the DR site, the subsequent SRM “Re-Protect” operation fails.
  • The following error is reported in the SRM UI and logs:

Cannot protect virtual machine 'VM_NAME' because its configfile '[DATASTORE]VM_NAME/VM_NAME.vmx' is located on a non-replicated or non-protected datastore.

Relevant log output:

  • SRM logs show timeouts:

Timed out waiting for replicated datastores after 300seconds. Received 0 out of 1 datastores.

  • ONTAP logs show SnapMirror policy mismatch:

PATCH of record "uuid:..." failed. Reason: The source and destination clusters both have a policy named "Async-5min", but they have different properties.

  • SnapMirror relationship is unhealthy or broken off.
