SRA 9.x: SRA adapter registration on VMware Live Site Recovery (SRM) fails with error : Verify if the username and password are correct and try again

Issue

While configuring the NetApp Storage Replication Adapter (SRA) on the VMware Live Site Recovery (SRM) appliance, the following error is displayed:

 Failed to configure the SRA adapter. Verify if the username and password are correct and try again.

The error occurs even though:

  • The ONTAP Tools appliance is reachable.
  • The username and password are believed to be correct.
  • The SRA adapter package has been successfully uploaded to the SRM appliance.

Symptoms :

  • SRA registration fails during execution of the Perl configuration command.
  • SRM cannot discover the SRA adapter.
  • Array Managers cannot be configured.
  • Disaster Recovery workflows cannot proceed.
