ONTAP Tools 10.5 SRA discoverDevices failed Unknown error When Using NVMe/TCP Datastores with VMware SRM

  • Environments using NVMe/TCP protocol for datastore presentation

Issue

  • When attempting to perform device discovery in VMware SRM using the ONTAP Tools 10.5 Storage Replication Adapter (SRA), the following error is returned.
SRA command 'discoverDevices' failed. Unknown error.
Check SRM log files for verification of errors.
SRM logs (dr.storage.fault.CommandFailed) show:
-->msg="SRA command 'discoverDevices' failed. Unknown error.
-->Check SRM log files for verification of errors."
  • ONTAP Tools logs contain:
java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: User role privilege does not match with the user json privileges
...
PrivilegeStorageBackendDiscovery:preparePathAccessMap: privilege details did not match
  • Device discovery and subsequent SRM-based replication and recovery operations fail for all storage presented over NVMe/TCP.
