Can a DII acquisition unit residing in AWS communicate with a public AWS IP address?

Answer

  • It is expected and normal for the DII Acquisition Unit (AU) to initiate outbound connections to specific public AWS IP addresses and hostnames when configured to collect data from Amazon EC2 environments.
  • If the AU or EC2 Data Collector is configured to use a proxy, AWS API traffic will be routed through the configured proxy.
  • If not configured to use a proxy, the AU will connect directly to the AWS public endpoints.
