Applies to

  • Active IQ Unified Manager (AIQUM) version 9.16.x
  • AIQUM installed on VApp environment

Issue

In AIQUM server, the DNS search entry in the AIQUM Maintenance Console and /etc/resolv.conf file displayed unexpected or concatenated entries. Attempts to correct the DNS search domain via the Maintenance Console appeared unsuccessful and the actual configuration would always show an incorrect, concatenated string.

Example log output:

diag@aiqum-mgmt:~$ cat /etc/resolv.conf
# Dynamic resolv.conf(5) file for glibc resolver(3) generated by resolvconf(8)
# DO NOT EDIT THIS FILE BY HAND -- YOUR CHANGES WILL BE OVERWRITTEN
nameserver 10.141.x.x
nameserver 10.141.x.x
search aiqum.corp.netapp.comost-aiqum-c01-mgmt.aiqum.corp.netapp.comaiqum.corp.netapp.com

AIQUM Maintenance Console:

Current Domain Name Search Settings:
------------------------------------
DNS Search Entries: aiqum.corp.netapp.com, aiqum.corp.netapp.comost-aiqum-c01-mgmt.aiqum.corp.netapp.com

Attempts to update the DNS search domain (even after committing changes and rebooting) did not change the value
