Answer

AIQUM uses two independent mechanisms to communicate with an ONTAP cluster:

  1. Certificates – Used only to establish a secure TLS/HTTPS communication channel. Certificates do not replace ONTAP user authentication.
  2. ONTAP user credentials (username and password) – Used to authenticate API requests and authorize data access.

Additional Information

If the ONTAP user password configured in AIQUM expires:

  • The secure TLS connection remains established.
  • API authentication fails due to invalid credentials.
  • AIQUM cannot authenticate API requests to ONTAP.
  • Cluster discovery, polling, and data collection stop.
  • The cluster may appear in a Failed or Incomplete state in AIQUM.
