CommVault protection jobs utilizing Unified Manager to create volumes fail because they cannot enable efficiency on the created volume

  • OnCommand or Active IQ Unified Manager version 9.10 or earlier (UM)

Issue

  • Protection jobs in CommVault fail with and error similar to this:

Protection Job Failed. Reason: (Data ONTAP reported error code (40043), message: 'Failed to enable efficiency on
volume "CC_Example_SP_20_Copy_41_svm_sample_fs01_test_vol14_Backup" of Vserver "sample-svm1": Operation has already been enabled.'(request: '/vol/CC_Example_SP_20_Copy_41_svm_sample_fs01_test_vol14_Backup').

  • If the relationship is create manually through the ONTAP CLI there is no issue
