  • Active IQ Unified Manager (AIQUM)
  • AIQUM upgrade from 9.14 to 9.16P2
  • Windows Server (2016/2019)

Issue

During an upgrade of Active IQ Unified Manager (AIQUM) from version 9.14 to 9.16P2 on Windows, the AIQUM server was rebooted, causing the upgrade to fail and the application to become inaccessible. Symptoms include

  • AIQUM GUI not accessible post-upgrade, or still shows old version (9.14) with “Not Running” status
  • AIQUM services (ocie-au, oncommandsvc) are in “Stopped” or “Stopping” state and cannot be started
  • MySQL successfully upgrades to 8.4, but AIQUM application files are corrupted
  • Log output show errors such as:

WFLYCTL0080: Failed services => {jboss.deployment.subunit."mega-app.ear"."server-api.war".undertow-deployment => "java.lang.RuntimeException: java.lang.ClassCastException: class org.apache.logging.log4j.core.LoggerContext cannot be cast to class org.apache.logging.log4j.core.LoggerContext"}WFLYCTL0412: Required services that are not installed: [jboss.deployment.subunit."mega-app.ear"."mega-acq-server.war".deploymentCompleteService]WFLYCTL0180: Services with missing/unavailable dependencies: [jboss.deployment.unit."mega-app.ear".deploymentCompleteService is missing [jboss.deployment.subunit."mega-app.ear"."mega-acq-server.war".deploymentCompleteService]]

  • Application files are corrupted due to an unexpected server reboot during the upgrade process
