Description

The following are two data collection methods that are currently available for SnapCenter:

  • SnapGathers
SnapGathers performs a full data collection of SnapCenter Server, SnapCenter Plug-In hosts and/or VSC Servers (that are registered with SnapCenter) when run on each of the respective servers.
  • Individual job logs
Every operation in SnapCenter has a unique job ID, which can be seen in the ' Monitor' section of the SnapCenter GUI. Each job ID has its own corresponding set of logs, which can be downloaded directly from the SnapCenter GUI.
Procedure
Option 1 - SnapGathers - Full data collection.
  1. Download the SnapGathers tool on the SnapCenter Server, SnapCenter Plug-In Servers (including SnapCenter Plug-in for Windows, SQL, VMware vSphere) and/or VSC Server.
  1. Open Windows Explorer and extract the SnapGathers.zip file
  2. Open a command prompt and navigate to the directory where the SnapGathers software was extracted
Example: cd C:Program FilesSnapGathers
  1. Run the following command:
snapgathers 10
This will collect 10 days’ worth of logs from the server
  1. Upload the data to NetApp
For more information on uploading data to NetApp, see KB 000029302: How to upload a file to NetApp

Option 2 - Individual Job Logs

  1. Log in to the SnapCenter GUI using your SnapCenter account
  2. Select the 'Monitor' tab from the left pane
  3. Select the Job ID that requires data collection
  4. Select the 'Download Logs' button near the upper right section of the SnapCenter GUI
You will then be prompted to save the job logs (in ZIP format) to your preferred location
