SCF retention leaves one or more extra snapshots behind than configured

Snap Creator framework 4.3.3

Issue

SCF 4.3.3 is leaving behind extra snapshots on storage.
 
Either through an error, like the following:
WARN: SCF-00215: Snapshot copy [SNAPSHOT_NAME] cannot be deleted for [XXXX]:[null] because it has dependencies ([snapmirror]), Skipping!

or with the message:

INFO: STORAGE-02091: Listing Snapshot copies on [<VOLUME>] finished successfully.
WARN: Currently 3 snapshots exist. The retention count is specified as 2. The excess snapshots could not be deleted because they are not older than the retention age (2 days) for <SVM>:<VOLUME>
