Does the backup of the dataset rotate correctly when there is a VM that cannot be backed up successfully?
Applies to
SnapManager for Hyper-V (SMHV)
Answer
- No, it doesn't.
- VMs that cannot be backed up successfully interfere with the evaluation of retention policies and the deletion of backups.
Additional Information
- If VM is already removed from Hyper-V environment, remove it from dataset.
- Backup fails after you remove a virtual machine from Hyper-V Manager
- If there are no plans to restore the VM, it is safe to remove the Snapinfo for the deleted VM.
- Deleted VM’s Snapinfo is named like Hyper-V_<VM's GUID>
