OnCommand Unified Manager Web User Interface fails to load and reports the error "Middleware's registry data is possibly corrupted"

  • OnCommand Unified Manager (UM) 7.0, 7.1

Issue

  • The OnCommand Unified Manager (UM) Web User Interface (WebUI) is inaccessible while all services are up and acquisition is successful.
  • Upgrading UM from 6.x to 7.0 is successful.

The error seen in the browser is:

500 Internal Server Error. Contact NetApp customer support.
ErrorDetails : Middleware's registry data is possibly corrupted or clientAuth certificates are missing.

Error seen in the reverse proxy (RP) log is similar to the following:

error: Unauthorized request from ::ffff:159.50.239.166 to /registry/
error: AuthorizationError: INVALID_PURPOSE
info: Registry server is up and running at port ===> 8443
error: Unauthorized request from ::ffff:127.0.0.1 to /registry
error: AuthorizationError: DEPTH_ZERO_SELF_SIGNED_CERT
error: [SyntaxError: Unexpected end of input]
info: route initSuccess = false
error: RP is running in Error Mode

The RP logs are located in the following locations:

  • Windows Server:
    \ProgramData\NetApp\OnCommandAppData\ocum\log\rp-<year>-<month>-<day>.log
  • RHEL / OVA deployments:
    /var/log/ocum/rp-<year>-<month>-<day>.log
