How to configure an HCI compute node to reboot automatically after hanging on the purple diagnostic screen
Applies to
- NetApp HCI
- H Series compute nodes
- ESXi
Description
When an ESXi host hangs under certain conditions (e.g., a bad memory DIMM), its default behavior is to remain on the purple diagnostic screen with no automatic reboot.
Manual intervention (typically, a reboot) is then needed in order to return the node to service.
This article describes how to configure an HCI compute node to automatically reboot after a specified period should the node hang.
