NetApp HCI Compute Node (Bootstrap OS)

Answer

The NetApp HCI Compute Node (Bootstrap OS) is the initial operating system used when you first boot up a new node or replacement. The NetApp HCI compute node is configured in dual boot using the Linux GRUB bootloader, allowing you to boot either the Bootstrap OS or the ESXi OS.

However, once the node is deployed in the cluster and has installed ESXi, the bootloader will set ESXi as the primary boot. Thus, any vulnerabilities found in the NetApp HCI Compute Node (Bootstrap OS) do not have an impact on the deployed environment, as the Bootstrap OS is not active once ESXi is installed and running.
