Snapmirror Snapshot retention not working with Altavault as expected due to Long-term retention enabled

Issue

  • There are more than expected number of snapshot copies on Altavault destination.
  • The Snapmirror policy on the Cluster shows total keep count as "20" for weekly snapshot.
  • However when checked on the Altavault, there are more than 20 weekly snapshots.
  • Snapshot retention count is not working as per SnapMirror policy set for the SnapMirror.
