Answer

  • You can add any object attribute (for example, storage name) as a parameter to an alert description.
  • For example, you can set parameters for volume name and storage name in a description like: "High Latency for Volume: %%relatedObject.volume.name%%, Storage: %%relatedObject.storage.name%%".
  • There is no documentation list that details all the parameters that you can use.
  • You can however, “browse” through the list of options if you create a dashboard with the alerts widget,  add the “Filter by Attribute” filter, and browse through the expansion:dashboard_alert_attrs.png
  • This method is limited in that it will only show attributes for alerts that exist on the instance
