Unable to Select ONTAP Versions During Cloud Volumes ONTAP Upgrade

Issue

  • When attempting to upgrade Cloud Volumes ONTAP via NetApp Console:
  • Only a Release Candidate (RC) version (e.g., 9.17.1RC1) is available for selection.
  •  The Select other versions option is greyed out and cannot be selected.

Cause

At the time the issue was first reported (September 26, 2025), the latest CVO release available via NetApp Console in the customer’s restricted environment was 9.17.1RC1, a Release Candidate. 

Solution

  • The new release of NetApp Console 4.0.0 has a fix. This enables selecting newer CVO versions during upgrade.
  • Workaround:
    • If immediate upgrade of the NetApp Console Agent is not possible, manually upload the desired CVO software image to the Agent VM and perform the upgrade via the NetApp Console portal using the “Update ONTAP version” option, specifying the HTTP path to the uploaded image.
