Failed to shutdown the system. Error: unmount_varfs seen during CVO shutdown

Issue

During a shutdown of a CVO, the error below is seen:
[CVO01-01: notifyd: boot.shutdown.issue:alert]:Failed to shutdown the system. Error: unmount_varfs

Cause

AutoSupport collection occurring at the same time as the shutdown can cause this error.

Solution

  • This is not an issue and doesn't have any impact on the system. It can be safely ignored.
  • The error is followed by, which resolves the issue immedi:
[CVO01-01: notifyd: boot.varfs.restore.success:notice]: Successfully restored the /var file system.
