Applies to

  • NetApp Data Services Backup and Recovery (formerly BlueXP Backup and Recovery)
  • SnapMirror Cloud
  • ONTAP 9

Answer

Concurrency of Backup and Recovery / SnapMirror Cloud relationships is based on platform

  • For low-end platforms (CPU cores <= 2 and memory < 8GB) the limit is 2
  • For mid platforms (2 > CPU cores <= 35 and memory <= 419 GB) the limit is 32
  • For high-end platforms (CPU cores > 35 and memory > 419 GB) the limit is 100

Notes:

  • Backup and Recovery relationships use the pool of total SnapMirror concurrency limits for the node and are not "in addition to"
  • Each Backup and Recovery relationship uses one source and one destination concurrency "slot"
  • For example, if a node allows a maximum of 100 source and 100 destination concurrent SnapMirror relationships overall, one transferring Backup and Recovery relationship reduces both of these pools to an available 99
  • See Changes to ONTAP limits for more information
