Description

  • This KB article outlines the steps to enable and access the diag shell in a NetApp Console local deployment virtual appliance (OVA)
  • The diag shell can be used to execute action plans outlined in other NetApp KB articles, but changes that are made within the diag shell that are not part of NetApp Guidance may result in the appliance being unsupported by NetApp

  • Security note: Enable remote diagnostic access only for active troubleshooting sessions. Disable it again when work is complete. Direct root SSH login is disabled; use diag only

  • Important: The diagnostic password can only be used once. Once you log in successfully, it expires. If you need to reconnect later for another ssh or scp session, please repeat this process and set a new password.
    Note: the diag user access expires at 23:59 NCL local timezone configuration, whether a user has logged in or not.
