Description

This process explains how to check that the Console Operator role (formally Cloud Manager Operator) is applied to the agent at the subscription level in Azure and how to fix it if it is applied only at the VM level

Procedure

Check the Console operator role
  1. Login to the Azure portal
  2. Navigate to the virtual machine hosting the connector
  3. On the left side panel, select Security > Identity
  4. Click the Azure role assignments button under the word "Permissions"

In this instance, the Cloud Manager Operator role (now Console Operator) is assigned to the virtual machine

Change the Console operator role assignment
  1. Navigate to the subscription in the Azure Portal
    • Home > Subscriptions > Subscriptions > [name of your subscription]
  2. On the left side panel, choose Access control (IAM)
  3. At the top left, click Add > Add role assignment
  4. In the search bar under Job function roles, search for the name of the role
  5. Select the role and click Next
  6. Where it says Members, click on + Select members
  7. On the right side panel, search for the connector VM and highlight it
  8. Click Select at the bottom of the panel
  9. Click Review + assign to assign that VM to the subscription

Navigate back to the VM and select Security > Identity from the left side panel. The role assignment should now look something like this:

The role should now reflect that it is assigned to the subscription instead of the virtual machine
