Slow NFS read performance while writing to Cloud Volumes ONTAP

Applies to

  • ONTAP 9.9.x or newer
  • Cloud Volumes ONTAP (CVO)
  • Linux clients with NFS connectivity to ONTAP storage
  • Mount options of a wsize of 1048576 or some value greater than 65535

Issue

  • When one client is reading from a CVO volume, read throughput decreases when another client writes to the same CVO volume
  • Writes may not perform as well after an upgrade to or past ONTAP 9.9 or 9.10 with volume encryption
