How long does it take to reboot a CVO node for maintenance?

Answer

  • The time varies on the backend provider and if single node or HA mode is used.
  • If there are no technical issues, the activity will take around 30 minutes or up to 1 hour.

Additional Information

  • For HA mode, takeover will be nearly instantaneous.
  • It will take a few minutes to halt ONTAP and stop the instance, however the time it takes to deallocate the instance depends on the backend provider.
  • Once stopped, it can take up to 15 minutes for the instance to initialize, however the time it takes to allocate the instance depends on the backend provider.
  • It can take up to 15 minutes for ONTAP to boot, all services to start up, however this depends on the instance type and backend provider.
  • For HA, it can take up to 15 minutes for automatic giveback to complete.
