Cloud Volumes ONTAP in Azure fails to boot during upgrade to ONTAP 9.14.1

Issue

  • During an ONTAP upgrade to ONTAP 9.14.1, the node does not boot up properly.
  • On initial boot up, the following error is seen at the serial console:
g_uzip_do: error 7 detected when inflating
Uptime: 3m7s
System rebooting..
  • Subsequent attempts to reboot result in no output at the serial console:

Connected to the serial port of the VM.
If no login prompt is displayed, press ENTER.

  • Viewing the Boot diagnostics screenshot displays the following:

Invalid format
 
FreeBSD/x86 boot
