Access denied on destination Azure object-storage for Cloud Backup

Issue

  • Cloud backups from on-premises ONTAP volumes to Azure object-storage fail with several errors seen like below:

ERROR smc.snapmir.update.fail: Snapmirror update from source volume <source_name>' to destination volume '<destination_name>' failed with error 'Transfer failed.(Filesystem error(Failure to perform I/O with the capacity tier. Retry the operation))

  • Errors below are seen in ONTAP EMS.log:

[CVO: OscLowPriThreadPool: object.store.unavailable:debug]: Unable to connect to the object store "<object_store_name>" from node. Reason: Access denied

[CVO: secd: secd.dns.server.timed.out:debug]: DNS server <DNS_IP_address> did not respond to vserver = admin Vserver within timeout interval.
