Answer

When using ontap-san-economy, Trident creates a LUN using the following logic:
  1. Select an aggregate that meets the specified criteria.
  2. If a FlexVol meeting the criteria already exists in the aggregate, resize it.
  3. If no FlexVol meeting the criteria exists in the aggregate, create a new FlexVol.
  4. Create a LUN in the selected FlexVol.

    Note: In a multi-aggregate environment, to create LUNs within a specific FlexVol only, specify the aggregate parameter in the backend configuration.
