Description

This article explains how to enable ONTAP volume snapshot policies for only one application (infrastructure component) running on an OpenShift cluster, when all applications currently use the same Trident backend and storage class mapped to a single SVM. The goal is to apply a snapshot policy to new volumes for just one application, leaving the other applications unaffected.

Sample Scenario:

  • Multiple infrastructure components use the same Trident backend and infra storage class.
  • Requirement: Enable snapshots for one component only.
  • Query: Can a new backend and StorageClass be created for this purpose?
