CSI-Snapshot creation via trident fails due to "too many snapshots on volume"

Issue

The volume has reached 1000 snapshots, which is the limit that ONTAP has set for snapshots that can be kept.
The error message coming from ONTAP is: "Reason: Cannot exceed maximum number of Snapshot copies."
