Description

The native commandline file checksum tools familiar to most Linux users - md5sum, sha256sum, etc. - are lacking on Windows platforms.

This KB explores a few lesser-known options available to Windows users without resorting to scouring the Internet and downloading comparable tools, possibly of unknown origin and/or from untrustworthy sites.

The methods described below can be used to verify the integrity of ONTAP installation images, SP/BMC updates, etc., especially when dealing with support issues and where the integrity of the files being used may be called into question.
