Applies to

  • ONTAP
  • StorageGRID
  • Fabricpool
  • Object Store

Answer

  • PUT operations will fail, so tiering will stop.
  • Data in the capacity tier remains available
  • Cold data in the performance tier will be tiered once the capacity tier is writable again

Additional Information

  • Ontap will log a warning when using a capacity license with a hypervisor when reaching a certain theshold.
  • Ontap will not log a warning using StorageGRID as capacity tier.
  • Try to avoid this situation as gaining back capacity no matter which way is time and effort consuming.
