How to restart the NDE process if NDE or scale failed?

NetApp HCI versions 1.6 and prior

Answer

  • Access NodeUI ( https://<Node MIP>:442)
  • Click "System Utilities" tab and input following under "Restart Services"
    • Service: sf-nde
    • Action: restart

In versions 1.7 and above, NDE can be re-run without a manual restart.

Additional Information

For some scenarios it does not work, take one of the following approaches:

  • Perform NDE Scale on another storage node (go to any storage node’s MIP)
  • Wait 72 hours for Scale to reset and then re-run it from any storage node
  • Contact NetApp support, who can apply a patch for this issue
  • (for new installations) deploy with HCI version 1.7 or above
