Issue

  • Several disks show the following
  • EMS logs

Jun 15 11:57:36 [node-1:disk.init.badSectorSize:error]: Disk e0d.01.1.18 has an unexpected sector size (4104 bytes) and cannot be used.
Jun 15 11:57:36 [node-1:disk.init.err.unsupported:error]: Disk e0d.01.1.18 is not recognized as a supported disk and cannot be used on this node.

  • Cluster::> system node run -node * -command sysconfig -a

            01.1.17: NETAPP   X4013S17337T6NTE NA53 7325.4GB 4160B/sect (S60RNA0RC00135)

            01.1.18: NETAPP   X4013S17337T6NTE NA50   0.0GB 4104B/sect (Failed-Unsupported)

(...)

  • Proper disks for AFF Systems will show 4160 Bytes per sector (4160B/sect) while the failing disks show as 4104 Bytes per sector (4104B/sect)
