  • SAS-connect subsystem in degraded state. Example:
::> system health subsystem show
Subsystem         Health
----------------- ------------------
SAS-connect       degraded
Environment       ok
...
  • Multiple EMS alerts. Example:
[node_name: nchmd: hm.alert.raised:alert]: Alert Id = DegradedShelfToShelfCabling_Alert , Alerting Resource = 012345678910 raised by monitor node-connect
[node_name: nchmd: hm.alert.raised:alert]: Alert Id = DegradedShelfToShelfCabling_Alert , Alerting Resource = 012345678911 raised by monitor node-connect
[node_name: nchmd: hm.alert.raised:alert]: Alert Id = DegradedShelfToShelfCabling_Alert , Alerting Resource = 012345678912 raised by monitor node-connect
[node_name: nchmd: hm.alert.raised:alert]: Alert Id = DegradedShelfToShelfCabling_Alert , Alerting Resource = 012345678913 raised by monitor node-connect
[node_name: nchmd: hm.alert.raised:alert]: Alert Id = DegradedShelfToShelfCabling_Alert , Alerting Resource = 012345678914 raised by monitor node-connect
[node_name: mgwd: callhome.hm.alert.major:alert]: Call home for Health Monitor process nchm: DegradedShelfToShelfCabling_Alert[012345678914].
  • System health alert example:
Monitor            node-connect
Alert ID           DegradedShelfToShelfCabling_Alert
Alerting Resource  012345678910
Subsystem          SAS-connect
Indication Time    Wed Apr 27 05:37:56 2022
Perceived Severity Major
Probable Cause     Cable_tamper
Description
Disk shelf 0a.shelf10 is connected only through 2 paths on IOM A and 2 paths on IOM B either to adjacent disk shelves or to the partner controller of the GobettiInfraTS-02 controller.
Because controller node_name is connected to stack 0 through a quad-path configuration, disk shelf 0a.shelf10 must be connected with double-wide cabling to adjacent disk shelves or quad-path to the partner controller.
Corrective Actions
1. Consult the guide applicable to your IOM12 disk shelf to review cabling rules and complete the SAS cabling worksheet for your system.
2. If disk shelf 0a.shelf10 is connected to another disk shelf, verify that disk shelf 0a.shelf10 is connected with double-wide cabling.
3. If disk shelf 0a.shelf10 is connected to the partner controller, verify that stack 0 containing disk shelf 0a.shelf10 is connected through a quad-path configuration.
4. Contact technical support if the alert persists.
Possible Effect     Inconsistent cabling might cause degraded performance.
Acknowledge         false
Suppress            false
