Applies to
Answer
Yes, volume deletes are processed in the background and can take a while for the space to reclaim back to the aggregate.
Additional Information
- Verify if the volume is thick or thin provisioned
- open the
vol-status-v
sections in autosupports - Find your volume and search for '
guarantee
'guarantee=volume
[thick provisioned]guarantee=none
[thin provisioned]
- Review the metadata from the aggregate
::> storage aggregate show-space
Aggregate : aggr0
Feature Used Used%
-------------------------------- ---------- ------
Volume Footprints 2.89GB 90%
Aggregate Metadata 2.48MB 0%
Snapshot Reserve 163.8MB 5%
Total Used 3.05GB 95%
Total Physical Used 1.51GB 47%
- Wait at least 10 minutes and run the command again.
- If the metadata is going down the space is reclaiming on the aggregate and the system is working as designed.
- Make sure there is nothing in
recovery-queue
::> set diag
::*> volume recovery-queue show
