  • AFF-A800
  • AIQ Unified Manager

Answer

No, AIQ Unified Manager receives API calls from ONTAP every 15 minutes. Once there is a disk failure on an AFF A800 ONTAP will disable the NVMe drive PCI port. ONTAP does this by design to prevent false panics from the failed disk.

Additional Information

  • EMS Alert: [NODE:config_thread: callhome.fdsk.fault:error]: Call home for FILESYSTEM DISK FAILEDShelf 0, Bay 37, Model [XmodelnumberX], S/N [XserialnumberX]
  • If you have experienced a disabled link of a NVMe drive on AFF A800 you may need to replace the disk.
  • An enhancement for disk registry in AIQ Unified Manger is currently under review by Engineering. Check with NetApp Support for updates.
