Issue

  • When using copper cables to connect a 40/100Gb port from a CX5 adapter to a Cisco Nexus 5648Q link never comes up

Example:

	slot 1: 40G/100G Ethernet Controller CX5
		e1a MAC Address: b8:ce:f6:XX:YY:ZZ (auto-unknown-fd-down)
		    QSFP Vendor: CISCO-TYCO
		    QSFP Part Number: 2821248-7
		    QSFP Serial Number: XXXXXXXXXXX-A
		e1b MAC Address: b8:ce:f6:XX:YY:AA (auto-unknown-fd-down)
		    QSFP Vendor: CISCO-TYCO
		    QSFP Part Number: 2821248-7
		    QSFP Serial Number: XXXXXXXXXXX-A
		Device Type: CX5 PSID(NAP0000001002)
		Firmware Version: 16.26.4012
		Part Number: MCX516A-CCAT_C21
		Hardware Revision: B1
		Serial Number: MT2105K09106
  • Setting speed/duplex manually on ONTAP or the switch has no effect
  • Updating switch firmware to last version available has no effect
  • Connecting two ports of the same CX5 adapter with copper cable shows no problem
