Issue

A SAN environment is dependent on a functioning fabric/network in order to transmit data.  SFP/GBICs are a crucial component in the physical layer of the fabric.  Identifying when these components have failed is an important step in fabric troubleshooting.

The host may experience latency and/or intermittent disconnects in an environment that has been working for some time with no issues.  Investigation into the filer may show no performance issues on the filer.
