Which condition can cause disk to power cycle?

Answer

When an error is encountered during normal I/O and if the power control capability is enabled for the disk, power cycle will occur. The following are the error conditions that will cause the disk to power cycle:

  • General SCSI hardware error.
  • Seagate SCSI IOEDC error.
  • Invalid SCSI sense.
  • An I/O timed out twice.
